Dr. Celeste Sangiorgio is an early-career clinical psychologist who specializes in advanced therapeutics for adults, such as an integrative care model delivering third-wave cognitive behavioral treatments (e.g., DBT) and relational care, particularly in digital settings. Dr. Sangiorgio’s research focuses on creating evidence-based digital treatment tools, such as emotional health, cognitive restructuring, and coping skills learning games. She is a specialist in psychometrics and research protocol design, and has advanced multiple, international grant-funded projects from literature review through IRB review and to final academic publication/presentation.
In addition to her research, Dr. Sangiorgio works as an advocate for the development of games as treatment pathways. Her work includes evaluation of mental health representations and skills in games, lectures on her own research developing and testing games, and discussion of existing, AAA-games as pathways for learning mental health skills. Dr. Sangiorgio’s research, clinical, and advocacy work is especially focused on evaluating efficacy of mechanisms and providing free and low-cost learning opportunities for mental health conflict and intimacy skills in naturalistic environments (e.g., in games).
